PostHeaderIcon What can I do to cure bad hemorrhoids?

I’m 8 months pregnant and have horrible hemorrhoids, It hurts to get up it hurts to sit down, I don’t know if I can use preparation H, I also was wondering what else I can do for them I’m miserable!

Apply an ice pack (with a soft covering) to the affected area several times a day. Ice may help decrease swelling and discomfort. Some women find cold compresses saturated with witch hazel to be soothing.

Soak your bottom in warm water, in a tub or a sitz bath. A sitz bath is small plastic basin that you fill with water and position over your toilet, allowing you to submerge your rectal area simply by sitting down.

Try alternating cold and warm treatments. Start with an ice pack followed by a warm sitz bath.

Gently but thoroughly clean the affected area after each bowel movement using soft, unscented, white toilet tissue, which causes less irritation than colored, scented varieties. Moistening the tissue can help, too. Many women find using pre-moistened wipes more comfortable than using toilet tissue. You can buy medicated wipes (such as Tucks) made specifically for people with hemorrhoids.

Ask your healthcare practitioner to recommend a safe topical anesthetic or medicated suppository. There are many hemorrhoid-relief products on the market, but consult your practitioner before trying one on your own. Most of these products should be used for a short course of treatment only (a week or less). Continued use can cause even more inflammation.

Up your fibre intake but eating products such as All Bran in the morning, and drinking heaps of water. This can alleviate straining and constipation which is one of the main contributors to hemorrhoids.

My hemorrhiods ”popped” out cause of the pressure of the baby pushing down when i was pregnant, mine never caused me no pain AT ALL, my child is now 2 & i STILL have them pop out of me when i sqaut or sit down on the toilet or something & mine dont even bother me, its just ever since i had a child they come out alot, but have not once EVER caused me no pain what so ever. You may need to see a doctor, i dont think they should be hurting you.

Hemorrhoids, even with the best diet are quite common in pregnancy. Treatment for hemorrhoids includes sitz baths and cold compresses. Practice good hygiene. Keeping the area clean can help relieve the itching and irritation associated with hemorrhoids. Witch hazel pads may also be helpful. If hemorrhoids are bothersome or painful, talk to your doctor. She may want to prescribe a medicated suppository or cream to apply to the area. She may also recommend a mild analgesic for you to take. Rarely surgery is performed to relieve hemorrhoids

My midwife gave me my monthly sheet of what to expect in my stage of pregnancy and it says on there to use castor oil, and/or witch hazel pads, not sure if it works, but i’m sure it’s worth a shot!
